Asthma is characterized by eosinophilic and mononuclear cell infiltration, mucous
metaplasia, airway remodeling, reversible airflow obstruction, and airway
hyperresponsiveness. COPD is typified by nonreversible or incompletely reversible airway
obstruction, often accompanied by mucous metaplasia and alveolar destruction. There is
