Four patients with Addison's disease are described in whom reduced thyroid function was
demonstrated at the time of diagnosis of adrenocortical insufficiency. Replacement therapy
consisting of physiological doses of adrenal steroids alone led to complete recovery of
thyroid function in these patients, suggesting that hypothyroidism occurring in association
with adrenal insufficiency may be reversible. The reason for the improvement in thyroid
function after treatment with adrenal steroids is unknown.
