Abstract
The exclusion criteria were typical of such studies and included a history of bleeding diathesis, acute myocardial infarction within 48 hours, cerebrovascular event within 3 months, illicit drug or alcohol abuse, prothrombin time> 1.5 times control, platelet count< 100,000/mm3, hematocrit< 25%, creatinine> 4.0 mg/dl, and thienopyridine or glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa use before the procedure. 1 All patients received 300 mg clopidogrel in the catheterization laboratory after successful coronary artery stent implantation followed by 75 mg/day for 30 days. Among 54 patients enrolled in this study, 51 underwent successful stent implantation and were followed with serial blood sampling and for the development of adverse clinical events.[...] a strategy of loading with 300 mg in the catheterization laboratory after successful coronary intervention inhibits low concentration ADP-induced aggregation by 14% within 2 hours.
