Luteal phase defect (LPD) was described by Jones in 1949 [1]; it is characterized by failure
to develop fully mature secretory endometrium. This entity is defined as a defect of the
corpus luteum to secrete progesterone in high enough amounts or for too short a duration.
This results in an inadequate or out-of-phase transformation of the endometrium which
precludes embryo implantation. Therefore, LPD is believed to be a cause of infertility and
