Abstract Human interleukin 16 (IL16) is pro-inflammatory and has been implicated in
inducing the chemotactic and immunomodulatory responses of lymphocytes, monocytes and
eosinophils. It has also been shown to induce expression of interleukin 2n receptor in the
human T-lymphocyte and inhibit immunodeficiency virus replication. A high degree of
structural and functional similarity has been shown in murine and human IL16. A radiation
hybrid mapping panel was used to assign human IL16 to chromosome 15q26. 3.
