To the Editor: The innate immune system is increasingly being associated with asthma
induction and progression. 1, 2 Macrophages are an important part of the innate immune
system, but their contribution to asthma pathogenesis is not clear. 3 Recent articles have
associated markers of the alternatively activated phenotype of macrophages (aaMFs) with
