This review examines glaucoma as a disease of early cellular senescence. There is ample
evidence for this position, for both the anterior and the posterior ocular segments. The
existing evidence to support this view of glaucoma and avenues to treatment, both existing
and new, will be examined in the light of glaucoma pathophysiology as a premature aging
process.
