The antioxidant response element (ARE) and transcription factor Nrf2 regulate basal
expression and antioxidant induction of NAD (P) H: quinone oxidoreductase-1 (NQO1) and
other detoxifying genes. Under normal conditions, Nrf2 is targeted for proteasomal
