Materials and Methods Cell Cultures. Smooth muscle cells (SMC), 1 derived from explants of
the medial layer of the thoracic aorta of the pigtail monkey Macaca nemestrina, were
subcultured as reported tFrom the Departments of Biochemistry (JMB, GB, and PB) and
Pathology (JMB and RR), University of Washington, Seattle, Washington 98195. Received
